The knowledge management dynamics in informal creative and cultural sectors, intensive in knowledge and mobility of human talent, are not well known. This research analyzes the incidence of three knowledge creation mechanisms: interaction and collaboration, competition and rivalry, and local mobility and socialization in informal groups of the creative sectors in Cartagena, Colombia, through qualitative comparative analysis. The results not only associated knowledge creation to the presence of the three evaluated mechanisms, but also established two mechanisms: local mobility and socialization, and interaction and collaboration as necessary and sufficient conditions to create knowledge in an informal context.
