The environmental conditions have been changing rapidly and deeply the business. Leaders and managers of modern times need to be constantly renewing their skills to provide the intellectual tools and practices used in their daily management activities. This study aims to provide a theoretical discussion based on intensive research and field documentary on the competences that, in the logic of the present reality, leaders and top-level executives anywhere in the world need to develop, regardless of the specific environment in which they perform their duties. These skills are being increasingly demanded on the training of managers and, as seen in the literature, are linked primarily with mental capacities and/or personal – so-called soft skills – rather than mechanical skills or practices. The development of management’s competences helps improve the performance of organizations. The review of the literature shows that, in terms of identifying features that take a more comprehensive strategic vision to understand the changing environment and to improve organizational performance.
