Keywords:
Economy crisis, productivity per worker, Cali-ColombiaAbstract
This paper uses for the first time the GDP data for Cali recently published by the Department of Economics at Icesi University. This data is used to show that the reason for Cali´s economic crisis in 1998 and 1999 is the fall of the averaga productivity per worker. In fact, the average productivity per worker did fall at a greater rate in Cali than in Bogota and the national level. We also found that Cali´s economy has a greater volatily than Colombia and Bogota.
